The Centre was established to:
provide leadership in community research, be forward thinking and have
high credibility in the community and academic sector
develop new partnerships with other areas within Curtin, other universities,
government, industry and non-government organisations
enter into consultation with communities
undertake consultancy and research in local, national and global community
issues
encourage and develop post-graduate training in stronger communities
develop an internationally recognised record of scholarship, research
publication in community awareness training for the corporate community
be aware of industry and government social responsibility agendas (for
example the principle of the triple bottom line )
Specifically, the Centre aims to:
facilitate industry/community links and partnerships in research.
create a generative research environment that contributes to the
advancement of world-class knowledge focussing on community strengths,
resiliencies and sustainable future.
conduct research and foster discussion on all aspects of community
policy and practice through the support of social science and humanities
frameworks.
build a theoretical and practical understanding of corporate community
relations and corporate trust.
actively promote and encourage open community dialogue
